Andrew Greene

Conductor - Sydney

Born in Australia, Andrew has conducted over fifty productions of operas, operettas, musicals as well as much of the symphonic and choral repertoire. Currently he is the Director of the Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program for Opera Australia. For Opera Australia, works that he has conducted include Così fan tutte, Die Zauberflöte, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Faust, La traviata, The Merry Widow, My Fair Lady, Trial by Jury, HMS Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado. For other companies, his credits include Trial by Jury (Covent Garden Festival, London), La finta giardiniera, Le nozze di Figaro, L’italiana in Algeri and Sweeney Todd (State Opera of South Australia), Don Giovanni (Opera Queensland, Mercury Theatre – New Zealand), Così fan tutte (Canberra School of Music), Die Zauberflöte (Opera Queensland) and Il barbiere di Siviglia (Opera Queensland, Canberra Opera, Pacific Opera). He has appeared in concert with the symphony orchestras of Taiwan, Beijing and Shanghai and has been a regular conductor of Christmas at the House as well as Opera in the Vineyards and the New Year’s Eve concerts in Sydney and Melbourne with the Australian Pops Orchestras. His recordings for ABC Classics include the CDs Operatunity Oz, Old American Songs and Danny Boy and the DVDs of HMS Pinafore/Trial by Jury, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado.
